Welcome to Ecology House

Thank you for joining us. Our purpose is to provide education to those interested in how our residential lifestyles effect the environment, health, ecosystems and our communities. Based on this education, we hope to create visible, meaningful change in the construction and renovation of homes in central Indiana. You will find many points of departure from here. These days there's no shortage of discussion on the environmental challenges we have created on this remarkable, but finite planet.Should you choose to stay and visit awhile, we hope to offer a metaphorical place of rest, cool drink and respite from the crush of everyday life.We use two models in our outreach. The first is to design and build housing using green or regenerative design principles. We use the word "regenerative" in lieu of the more common "sustainable design" term because we intend to add more than we take away. You may see our completed and in progress work here. We also work to educate the central Indiana community (where we live) on the power of green design. The ideas here are broadly adaptable wherever interest in housing and the environment intersect. To join our mailing list and keep up to date with EHI, please register an account with us by clicking here (component/option,com_registration/Itemid,0/task,register/)

Green Renovation: Some Basic Ideas

Renovations take many forms. Some work is as simple as new paint. Some projects change the entire interior of an existing house.

Reporting In

In 2007 we continued to offer educational forums to the central Indiana community which allowed local organizations pursuing a green agenda to present their latest work.
At the same time we engaged a strategic planning process to uncover how we can further accelerate the green movement in Indianapolis and central Indiana. We find the results very exciting and are moving ahead now to develop the fine scale details.
